If you have knitted a pair of mitts from our newsletter last month and would like a to try an unusual and interesting cable pattern, the Nalu Mitts may be for you! They are a popular, free pattern on Ravelry.

We recently brought in Jaggerspun's Maine Line, a sport weight yarn that is very similar to their Greenline. The colors are vibrant, and the yarn is soft but sturdy enough to produce lovely stitch definition. We plan to increase the number of colors available at the shop with each reorder.

One skein will make the Nalu Mitts -- a great gift from Maine!

While looking at the Universal Yarns website recently we noticed that they had a lot of free basic patterns available for download. It was easy to sort out the pattern with the site's streamlined filters.

If you are not a Ravelry fan, you may want to check it out.

For the month of October, as part of the fundraiser to benefit WCAP fuel assistance program and Waldo County Woodshed (see Knit-a-thon article below), there will be used fiber-related books for sale in the shop. There are many classic knitting titles, and many in other fiber arts, including quilting. The books are $5 for hardcovers, $3 for softcovers and $1 for magazines.

If you would like to donate some knitting/crocheting or fiber-related books for this fundraiser, you can drop them off at the shop.

We are not putting the sale of these books through our register since we are just hosting the book part of the event. Cash or a check made out to The Women of St. Margaret's are accepted.
