Kirby Baby Sweater

If you find yourself needing to knit a little something for a new baby, Kirby from Berroco is a great choice. The pattern knits up easily from the top down with a sweet little lace detail and calls for DK weight yarn. You could choose from easy-care (machine-washable) shop favorites like Vintage DK, Ultra Wool DK, Arroyo, Plymouth Select DK, or the multicolor Spirit DK. If you would like a cotton, one skein of Great Adirondack hand-dyed organic cotton should do the trick.

We used Silky Wool to make a matching baby sweater for our women's Fine Sand shop sample. Liz knit the 9-month size with just one and a half skeins of Silky Wool. Even though this yarn is labeled "hand wash," a swatch that went through the machine shows promise (no felting!).
